- Tasleem completed a diploma in Fashion Design at the Gordon Flack-Davidson Academy of Design in 199I.She worked as a freelance designer focusing mainly on private clientele.
Highlights:
- at 21 she was featured as a mover in the Cosmopolitan Magazine as a fashion and graphic designer. She designed various covers for RPM Records and worked as a stylist for local artists.
- wanted to further her studies and attended London International School of Fashion as a 3rd year student. Was a National finalist in the Smirnoff Young Designer Awards.
- 2000 - traveled extensively , working abroad (Europe).
- 2001 - returned to SA and launched the street-label, Funeka, a Xhosa word meaning Wanted.

- Designed a Bollywood inspired range for Rapport/City Press Prestige Awards(Woman of the Year), featured on Top Billing Show and Magazine. This range was done in collaboration with "Hands"(women from Somerset West who crochet copper wire with beads to create amazing accessories)
- Showcased at SA Fashion Week(Range to celebrate 10 Years of Democracy using the controversial UDF logo as a motif).Shoes and accessories by Pump.
